Champion's League Adventures

Celtic Vs. Benifca

Previous to this my total 'live' champion's league experiences were Celtic vs. Armedia Bratislava last season and Celtic vs. FC Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago. Third time was defnitely a charm. With 4 of the potential starting line-up missing (Gravesen, McGeady, Wilson and Hesselink) I wasn't sure what kind of game we were going to be treated too.

Turns out it was an absolute belter with Celtic romping to a 3-0 win in front of a loud and enthusiastic crowd of fans. The fans kept singing and Celtic kept scoring with Pearson grabbing the 3rd in the last 5 minutes to put Celtic in an excellent position to qualify for the next round. The away game to benfica is crucial though. If we can get anything out of that game then it will put us in the home stretch for qualification!!!

S.O.S

Sack Our Staunton. Please. Go On! you know you want to. On current form the days of singing olé olé for the Irish team are well and truly over and with the FAI making 'we'll stand by our man' noises the future doesn't look too bright.

Now is the time to sack Staunton and at least give the fans (and possibly the team) some renewed hope of qualifying for the European Championships. After finally realising Kerr just wasn't the man for the job and didn't have the depth of experience they needed, how Staunton was seen as an improvement was beyond me.

Other nations without half the talent the Republic of Ireland squad posses happily recruit foreign managers with almost instant success. Look at Australia and Japan and the USA. At least they're qualifying for the big tournaments. We on the otherhand are going backwards and in terms of the world rankings, downwards.

So please, Sack Staunton and give us at least a fighting chance of qualification!!
